Monastery Hostel located in San Bartolome Monastery in Alcantara. The monastery, sited in the outskirsts of Alcantara, was built in slate masonry and was devoted through the years to the production of flour. The cloister stands over squared pilars that finish in semicircular archs, covered by a groined vault. Entering Hospedería Conventual de Alcantara is penetrating in Extremadura´s late 15th Century history. Around this age, the San Bartolome Monastery was built to house the San Francisco Order and, eventually, a flour mill. The restoration of the building keeps the spirit of the original construction, which provides an unrivalled charm and serenity while offering all the comforts and services of a selected hotel.
The Monastery Hostel is located by the city of Alcantara, in the west part of Caceres and at 11 Km. from the Portuguese border.
There are two national monuments in the area: the Roman Bridge and San Benito Monastery.
In addition, the Parish Church os Santa Maria de Almocovar has been recently rated as Cultural Heritage by Extremadura´s regional government.

The hostel has 30 rooms: 23 double rooms, 2 suites and 5 superior rooms. All of them furnished and decorated to guarantee an unique and outstanding stay.
The rooms have full bathroom, air condition and heating,
plasma TV, free minibar and Internet access.
There are rooms adapted for the handicapped on the first floor.

Exit Talavera La Real Airport, in Badajoz, and take the highway E-90/A-5 heading towards Exit 339 Caceres. Continue along the E-803/A-66 and exit onto the motorway N-521. When arriving at Caceres, take the exit 3 at the roundabout and continue along the N-521. Finally, go along the motorway EX-207 until arriving at Alcantara. The Cascada del Chorro de los Ángeles is without doubt the most breathtaking waterfall in this area, with a one-hundred drop of water.
