Without doubt the most spectacular of these corners is the double arched Roman bridge spanning the River Noguera Pallaresa to join the two parts of the municipality. The bridge´s image has become the hallmark of this Pyrenean locality.

In 1994 Ecomuseu de les Valls d'Àneu was set up in Esterri. The aim of this museum is to give visitors first-hand and hands-on knowledge of the way of life of the local residents (called "pallareses" from the district of Pallars) at the beginning of last century.

The museum comprises different buildings situated in different spots of the whole area. The Casa Gassia d'Esterri is a typical building of the town recreating the life of its former dwellers. The visit also takes in Son´s important set of buildings, including the Lombard belfry of the Iglesia de los Santos Justo y Pastor, the remains, currently being restored, of the twelfth-century Benedictine Monasterio de Sant Pere del Burgal, in Escaló and the water-driven sawmill of Alós d'Ísil, in which visitors can see how wood is treated and then used in the constructions of the valley. The Ecomuseu also includes the hydroelectric power station of Sant Maurici, in Espot, temporarily closed at present.
