Port Lligat Route

PortLligatThe Dalí House in Port Lligat was originally built in 1930 as a fisherman´s hut. With time it has been turned into a mansion reflecting all the brilliance of Dalí. Its first remodelling came in 1948 when Dalí and Gala decided to settle definitively in Port Lligat, after which the house was progressively enlarged and extended to meet the Catalan genius´ everyday needs and working requirements as an artist. Here he produced pieces such as The Madonna of Port Lligat (1950), The Last Supper (1955) or the Hallucinogenic Toreador (1969).

In the process of enlarging the house it was linked into surrounding buildings by means of narrow corridors, twisting passages and some dead-ends, converting the house into a veritable maze.

The Casa-Museo can today be visited in small groups and by previous appointment. Since 1998 it has been included in the catalogue of Cultural Assets of National Interest by the Culture Department of the Regional Authority of Catalunya.
