Grazalema is set right in the mountains (Macizo del Endrinal) and in the middle of the nature park it gives its name to, over 800 m above sea level. It forms part of the famous White Towns Route so called because of the whitewashed walls and courtyards of the towns along the route. Grazalema blends gracefully into the whimsical forms of its natural setting, taking both its name and urban fabric from its Arab past. The benign temperatures and heavy rainfall funnelled in from the Strait of Gibraltar keep its squares and balconies teeming with flowers right round the year. The Plaza de España, with the classic style church, is the town´s nerve centre and meeting point. This square also has an outstanding Town Hall as well as other religious buildings and mansions and an eyecatching fountain cum drinking-trough. The road around the town and the nearby massif are excellent vantage points to take in this town and its surrounding NaturePark.
