Barcelona, September 2008.- The Sant Roc Hotel & Spa in Solsona (Lleida, Barcelona), has been nominated for an IRHA Award as the best establishment of the year, a distinction granted by the International Restaurant & Hotel Association and which will be announced at a gala event to be held at The Beverly Hilton Hotel, in Beverly Hills (California), on 16 November.
The Sant Roc Hotel & Spa, a hotel belonging to the Domus Selecta collection, is competing in the category “Value Hotels”, focused on establishments that offer their clients an extra “plus”, for their decoration, facilities or exclusive services. In addition to this nomination, the hotel is also competing in the same category for a “best design” award.
This hotel, located in Solsona, is set in a characteristic building from the Modernist period, designed by architects Ignasi Oms and Bernardí Martorell. Carefully restored, this cosy boutique establishment has 25 guestrooms, each of which has unique decoration and ambiance, for example, art nouveau, country-style or avant garde. This has been one of the aspects the IRHA Award panel of judges has taken into account to qualify for their awards, together with the design, elegance and unique personality of the hotel.
Amongst the amenities offered, the hotel’s two restaurants must be highlighted: El Buffi, specializing in avant garde, signature cuisine and El Petit Buffi, in which its exclusive ambiance combines works of art and original mural paintings. Additionally, the establishment offers its exclusive Hydra-Qi Spa, an area for health and beauty care, with sauna facilities including chromatic therapy, sensation showers, ice fountain and jacuzzi, amongst others.
The IRHA Awards comprise a prestigious international programme that values the best hotel offers world-wide in the medium-high and high categories, which stand out for their exclusive, original and creative services. The awards are divided into three categories: “Value Hotels”, “Moderate Hotels” and “Luxury Hotels”, for which 10 distinctions are granted, such as “Best Design”, “Best Lobby” or the “Best Newly-Opened Hotel”. A dozen establishments will be competing in this edition, from various countries such as China, the U.S.A., France, Sri Lanka or Thailand.
