Some theories state that early Granada was founded by Jews, but what is known for sure is that from times of the old Roman Iliberis located on the opposite bank of the Darro River (the Albayzin Hill) formerly home to the ancient Iberian settlement, on this side, on the slopes of Mauror (name of the hill alongside Al Sabika, home to the Alhambra) the Jewish Granada, or Garnata al Yahud, was already in existence. Illustrious Jews (such as Ibn Gabirol, Ibn Agrela, Ibn Ezra and others) led the political and artistic life of the city throughout its subsequent history, including during the time of the Nasrid dynasty, when the Muslim kingdom of Granada reached its maximum splendour.
Touristic attractions: The Alhambra of Granada and the Generalife. Realejo: Cuarto Real de Santo Domingo, Santo Domingo Church and Square, Campo del Príncipe and San Cecilio Church, Casa de los Tiros, San Matias Church. Centre: Cathedral, Corral del Carbón, Plazas del Carmen y Bibarrambla, Plaza Mariana Pineda, Albayzin (the entire district is declared UNESCOÂs World Heritage) and Sacromonte.

The Climb Up To Mulhacen
Mulhacen, on the southern side of Sierra Nevada, is the highest peak on
the Iberian Peninsula at 3481 metres. The best way to tackle its

Guadix
Just like a filmset, Guadix unfolds its long history to the spectator
strolling through its streets. It has Arab, Roman and Renaissance
features and also remnants of its cave-dwelling past, making it one of

Visit To Lanjaron And Orgiva
Lanjarón and Órgiva, separated by only nine kilometres of modern road,
are the two most important towns of the district called Las Alpujarras,
an ideal site for a Sunday-morning outing. The scenery is staggering,
the air is bracing; every lungful comes perfumed with the leafy, humid
aromas of these hillsides overlooking the nearby, all-pervading
Mediterranean sea.
