La Posada de Santa María la Real is located in the Northern part of the district of Palencia, in Aquilar de Campoo, nerve centre of the Northern Romanesque, inside the touristic complex of the Monastery Santa María la Real, settled on the former agricultural premises (farming implements and grain warehouses) of the 12th century monastery. La Posada, restored in order to keep the traditional regional architecture, is distributed on two floors. A large gate has direct access to an open cobbled patio where the building stands up. On the ground floor is situated the reception, a bar, a living room with fireplace and its quality restaurant with its stony walls, with roof allowing the beams view. It also has meeting rooms equipped with audio-visual facilities. On the high floor are located some rooms. La Posada owns a large garden with different trees that give a pleasant shadow, under that are situated the tables and the chairs, in order to offer to the guests a place where to enjoy the peace and the environmental calm of the nature.
In Aguilar de Campoo are combined ARTS (the biggest European concentration of the Romanesque), NATURAL PLACES (Fuentes Carrionas Natural Park) and SPORTS (ski resort Alto Campo, golf course,
natural lake) together. San Miquel Collegiate Church, Santa Cecilia Church, the Castle remains and the old medieval gates.
The Reservoir where you can practice water sports. For its guests, La Posada offers guided trips to the Monastery and the Museum of Romanesque.
