Terraces

Only guests of Antica Torre Tornabuoni have access to one of Florence's most exceptional privileges: its private terraces, where the city unfolds in all its beauty. From above, every view is a work of art: Brunelleschi's dome, Giotto's bell tower, the hills of Fiesole, Palazzo Vecchio, the Santa Trinita bridge, San Miniato al Monte, and the serene flow of the Arno River.

Among the battlements that have protected this medieval tower for over 800 years, time seems to stand still. In the summer and autumn sunsets, the light bathes the rooftops in golden and pink tones, enveloping the city in an almost surreal silence.

On the rooftop, the Panoramic Bar invites you to savor the moment with a glass of wine and Tuscan delicacies. From the Dome Terrace, Florence reveals all its Renaissance splendor; while from the Arno Terrace, the city unveils its most intimate and serene side, nestled between Palazzo Pitti, the dome of Santo Spirito, and the greenery of Forte Belvedere.

Gastronomy

At Antica Torre Tornabuoni, the cuisine is a celebration of the most authentic flavors of Tuscany. From breakfast, served with organic local products, to light lunches prepared right before your eyes, every detail reflects a passion for the natural and the well-made. Seasonal fruits, freshly baked bread, artisan jams, and delicate pastries create a morning experience that combines simplicity, elegance, and hospitality.

But it is at nightfall that the experience reaches its peak. The Tower restaurant, open only on special occasions, becomes a privileged stage amidst 13th-century battlements and under the Florentine sky. In the enchanting silence of the city, the flavors of land and sea come alive: fresh fish from the Gulf of Follonica, Chianina beef, saffron from traditional crops, and cheeses from the historic Palagiaccio.

An exclusive culinary experience designed for those who savor not just the dish, but the moment itself.

Each dish tells a story, each ingredient reveals a corner of Florence

History

This 13th-century noble tower was once the residence of the influential Gianfigliazzi family, Guelph nobles mentioned by Dante in his Divine Comedy and key figures in Florence’s political and diplomatic life. For over four centuries, it served as a gathering place for the aristocracy, known as the “Casino of the Nobles,” and still retains that distinguished, discreet atmosphere.

With the extinction of the family, the tower was transformed into the Pensione Piccioli, a haven for artists, writers, and enlightened travelers of the 20th century, including Russian literary figures Dmitri Merezhkovsky and Zinaida Gippius.

After World War II, a meticulous restoration brought new life to every corner. Today, Antica Torre Tornabuoni is more than just a place to sleep: it is a living page of Florentine history. A soulful space where each guest writes their own story, surrounded by art, memory, and eternal beauty.
