History

Casa Peya stands as a living testament to a brilliant era and a reflection of the modernist legacy of the region. Built in 1930 at the behest of Catalina Jordi Jofra, a member of a family of landowners and merchants from the Empordà, the house was designed to serve as a family residence alongside her husband, the doctor Ernest Peya Miró.

The project was executed by architect Pelayo Martínez Paricio, a prominent figure of the second generation of modernism. His influence is evident in the details of the house, characterized by a sober and refined architecture that converses with the decorative art of the time. Casa Peya is a unique example of late modernism and novecentism in Palafrugell, reflecting a time of prosperity marked by trade with America and the rise of the cork industry.

In 2017, after a careful restoration that preserved original elements such as the staircase, patio, and other spaces, the old house was reborn as a hotel, maintaining its spirit intact.

Today, Casa Peya offers a balance of history, comfort, and discreet elegance: a place where the past serves as the backdrop for new experiences in an environment that honors its origins while embracing contemporary serenity.
